About Camp McPherson

RAY and DOROTHY LITTIG

We came to Ohio from Colorado to attend Mt. Vernon Bible College. Upon graduating in 1967 and for the next 20 years; we worked, in various roles, at the Mt. Vernon Foursquare Church.

We attended Camp McPherson over a period of 18 years, while living in Mt. Vernon. We helped in cleaning the property of trees that were down after a tornado and later Ray assisted in clearing of land where Morrow’s Lodge now stands.

Our children, Michael and Cynthia attended Camp McPherson all of their years of camping from 3rd grade. They later became summer workers in their high school years.

In 1987 we moved back to Colorado and opened a Corner Grocery Store and Meat Processing Plant. After 3 years we received the call about the position of Camp Managers. Just before that call by a week, Ray had injured his arm and shoulder and was no longer able to continue cutting meat. This door opened…Isn’t that just like God? He always prepares the way for us. On September 15, 1990 we became managers. It was awesome how God opened doors and within 1 month the transition was made.

Ray oversees the grounds, all maintenance, also the pool maintenance and training of workers for outside work. For 12 years Dorothy managed the kitchen, doing all the ordering, menus, training and kept up with the office work and worked with the District Office coordinating schedules of groups. She now is the Administrator and coordinates all areas of the camp, scheduling of groups, and working with RAC office with finances. She is certified in Serv-Safe, completing the standards of the National Restaurant Association. Both Ray and Dorothy are certified in CPR and First Aid.

The safety of all campers is one of our main concerns, from food preparation to the facilities. We strive to provide a facility that is well maintained and manicured, safe, with wonderful food and a place most of all, where the Spirit of the Lord can minister to young and old alike. There is no generation gap.

God has been faithful with providing us with Good health and look forward to continuing our roles as Managers and Administrator. God is Jehovah Jirah both for us and the Camp.
