Camp McPherson's Facilities

Our 158 acre Christian campground, located near the Mohican State Park, offers flat grassy recreational areas as well as rolling hills and wooded areas that offer a beautiful setting. The grounds are ideal for the sports enthusiast as well as the individual seeking a Christian retreat center for peace and reflection. There are very few
places that offer the peace of the Lord’s
presence and the beauty of His nature, especially
in the fall, as the camp. Our facilities will
provide you with several camping options, from
tent camping to a hotel room; all can experienced
at Camp McPherson. Contact us for the all the
options available for your group.
The Lodge at Camp McPherson
Morrow Lodge is nestled in a hill on
the grounds of Camp McPherson. Along with all
the amenities that the lodge offers, a bonus
is the camp grounds!
There are 23 rooms each with
2 queen beds; one room has handicap and wheel
chair accessibility. As in any motel, linen
and towels are provided.
The Lodge houses a meeting
room with a maximum capacity of 100, in theater
seating. A built-in sound and satellite system
is available for use. In addition, there is
a pass-through window that connects the kitchenette
to the meeting room. The kitchen can be used
to serve your guests light refreshments to a
buffet style meal.
During meeting breaks, the
central lobby offers a place to relax and visit
with other guests. Sit in one of the plush sofas
in front of the stone fireplace and someone
may have to wake you to rejoin the meeting.
Morrow Lodge is an excellent
choice for your next retreat, family reunion,
marriage seminar, wedding, group banquet, company
party or meeting.
Kurtz Retreat Center
We often heard, “We only have
a small group, is there anything available to help meet our needs?” Yes, there
is and the Kurtz Retreat Center is just the
place for a small group, overflow for a larger
camp or a quality, comfortable place for your
counselors. In the spring of 2003 we wanted
to meet this need that many organizations had;
we therefore started renovating what was then
called the “the 3rd dorm”.
Finished in the early summer
of 2003, the Center has 8 sleeping rooms, a
lounge and men’s and ladies shower rooms.
Six rooms come with double beds and two have
single beds, bed linen is provided. The lounge
area has a small kitchenette. Consider the Kurtz
Retreat Center for your staff meetings or small
group gatherings.
The Dorms
Campers can also stay in one of four
dormitories, each holding 60 people. The dorms
are separated; the “boy’s dorms”
are on the hill and the two “girl’s
dorms” are located near the Lodge. Each
set of dorms have their own Bath houses. Just
like the Lodge and Retreat Center, the dorms
are heated and, for those hot, muggy summer
nights, air conditioned! Housing 240 beds among
the four dorms enables Camp McPherson to handle
large Church, Band or Athletic Camps.
Camper’s Row
and Primitive Camping
For those that like to drive or pull
their sleeping accommodations with them, there
is Camper’s Row. Twenty-seven stations
provide water and electrical hook-up for the
campers. We do not provide a waste station but
one is located just down the road with easy
access in Mohican State Park.
Across from Camper’s
Row are sites for primitive camping. For the
individuals or families that enjoy pitching
a tent and enjoying the surroundings, camp sites
with fire rings are available.
Dining Hall
The dining hall at Camp McPherson seats
a maximum of 250 people. Enjoy, as our professional,
certified staff serves up a tasty meal. Menus
are available from a camping menu to banquet
style dinners for that wedding, church or company
reception. For those that enjoy a great barbecue,
we can roll out the Chuck Wagon. Our converted
Amish Wagon is mounted with four grills and
hot and cold plates to serve up some great burgers,
hot dogs or steaks any where on our grounds.
The building, itself, can serve
as a great recreational or classroom setting
during inclement weather. Click here to see our menu.
The Tabernacle
Located on the highest point at Camp
McPherson is the Tabernacle. With its stage
and se ating for 450 the Tabernacle offers an
open, or closed, air experience to your meeting,
worship or church services. The facility has
been ideal for band camps. They utilize the
Tabernacle for their orchestra set up and perform formations a few yards away on the open fields.
The Chalet
If you desire privacy and convenience,
our one bedroom Chalet may be just the answer.
With its living room, full kitchen and bath
the chalet is a great opportunity for a mini
retreat or a couple’s get away. Many of
our Pastor’s have used the chalet for
a time of reflection, study and seeking the
Lord. If you are a Pastor contact us for additional
information.
The Game Room
Across from the Dining Hall is the
Game Room. Housing a pool table, ping pong and
foosball tables and video games it is a gathering
place for young and old alike. Whether you are
sitting around with a group of friends, joining
in a game or grabbing a snack; it’s a
great location at the camp.
If you need another meeting
room, the Game Room quickly converts into that
place and can easily seat 80 to 100 participates.
Outdoor Recreation
One of the great advantages of Camp
McPherson are the open fields available for
a pick-up game of football, a softball game,
or how about some soccer. Two sand volleyball
courts and a lighted basketball court are on
the grounds.
The camp also offers a low
ropes course for those campers that want to
develop their teambuilding skills.
For a camper with a warrior
streak, Stand Your Ground Paintball has several
paintball courses with equipment rental available.
Need some refreshing, dive
into our 2,400 sq. ft. heated pool. And while
you are there enjoy a hot dog, some soft ice
cream or a coke at the concession stand.
The location of Camp McPherson,
near the Mohican State Park, offers our campers
the opportunity to enjoy the area and its attractions
as well. We can help you arrange canoeing, horseback
riding, a high ropes course challenge, go-karts
and putt-putt. Downhill skiing and numerous
golf courses and Amish Country are short drives
away. Check out the activities section for more
information.
